We took a vote and since the Region 5 Convention falls on a club day we will not be meeting at the Community Center.  Plenty of people will be going so car pools can be arranged.  Other folks will be doing a Venture run and dinner get together.
Editor's Note: Events marked in Bold are 'traditionally' attended by Techmages, contact the officer's about carpooling if you'd like too
Introduction of new members:
No new members at the May meeting.
Awards:
None.
Kit Reviews:
None.
Announcements for Next Meeting:
Location:
Next meeting will not be held, some members will be heading down to the Region 5 IPMS show, others will be doing a 'Venture Run.'
July is our traditionally low turnout, and is not a regular meeting.  We may have a mini BBQ/Buildday or another 'Venture Run.'  Stay tuned . . .
July meeting will be at Venture with a post action dinner.
August meeting, the traditional picnic/BBQ - wherabouts to be determined.  Probably Sparky's hootch - who are we kidding.
Demo:
No Demos planned at this time
Special Guests:
There's a guy making a movie that wants our help.  It's all in eMail at the moment - he hopes to be able to meet face to face in June or July (didn't we do this last July?)

Onto the meeting:
Demo / Speaker:
John brought his light tent and photo gear, and several folks got their models photographed.
Show and Tell 5-12-2007:
Jon Kunatz:
Jon has painted his 1/72 HMMWV's (gun truck, standard 4-door and cargo variant) and just has details left to add.  He also brought an old ESCI 1/72 M1 Abrams he's "sci-fi-ing" up.  His 1/25 "SA-6" from Trumpeter did well at Mad City Modelers- he reports it's a great kit with no building issues.  He added lots of mud using baking soda soaked in white glue.
1) 1/72 HMMWV (gun Truck, standard 4-door and cargo variants).
a) gun Truck,
b) standard 4-door,
c) and cargo variant
2) 1/72 M1 Abrams he's "sci-fi-ing" up.
3) 1/25 "SA-6" from Trumpeter
Neil Butler:
Neil brought a copy of "World's Worst Aircraft" (a Barnes & Noble book by Jim Winchester).  The thing is chock full of aircraft that just didn't cut the mustard - a fun little book.
1) World's Worst Aircraft Book
Terry 'Ter_or':
Ter brought his Bandai EX "Black Tiger" and "Cosmo Zero" spacefighters (also from "Space Battleship Yamato"), both of which did well for him at Mad City Modelers contest, the Cosmo getting 1st in Sci-Fi.  The "Cosmo Zero" was built and painted according to the directions, but the "Black Tiger" sports a trainer/test-bed scheme, which he used a lot of 1/72 "Harrier" decals to flesh out.  The Cozmo Zero was on it's third iteration of canopy work - Ter used an ink + pearlescent powder in Future to tint the thing.  www.HouseofKolor.com is a great source for pearlescent powders you can mix in with hobby paints and airbrush.

Ter also brought a refurbished Minbari "Sharlin" warcruiser mini, a green dragon (from Reaper Minis) bursting forth from a plastic fern, and his recently completed 1/48 Classic Airframes "Canberra", finished in all-over PRU Blue and Peruvian markings.  You don't see that every day. . . .
1) Bandai 1/100 Cosmo Zero space fighter (Starblazers/Space Battleship Yamato)
2) Bandai 1/100 Black Tiger space fighter trainer (Starblazers/Space Battleship Yamato)
3) Moongoose Publishing Minbari "Sharlin" warcruiser mini
4) Reaper Minis Green dragon
James 'ambassador_londo':
James brought his Polar Lights "Jupiter 2", which made its contest debut at Mad City Modeler's in April.  James poured a lot of time and energy into the model, and it shows: it has tons of aftermarket and scratchbuilt items, including jacobs' ladders, a lighting kit, the astrolabe, landing gear, flight displays, seating, and more.
1) Completed Commission, accurized TOS Jupiter 2.
Tony Agustin:
Tony brought several kits to drool over, including a studio-scale "Escape Pod" from the first "Star wars" movie, and a ten year old "Elvira" figure from Screamin' he's trying to have done for Wonderfest
1) Studio 1/24 scale SW escape pod.
2) Elvira figure
Joe 'Sparky':
Joe had a sample of flexiable ribbon strip of 39 superbright white LEDs with self-adhesive backing, running off 12 volts.  These can be pruchased online from oznium.
1) Easy Strip Lighting for tight and compound spaces
Ken 'Sunshine':
Kevin was back after a long absence and brought with him several "simple" kits he's planning to super detail.  The first was a Zoid's "T-Rex" that he wants to turn from a toy into a contest worthy display model.  Next was a "Zaku" from Gundam Seed, to which he has already started detailing.  Last was the Bandai 1/1000 "Space Battleship Yamato", which he describes as a pig of a kit.  He's been grinding away inaccurate outlines and completely reworking the superstructure.
1) Zoid's T-Rex.
2) An in progress Zaku from Gundum Seed.
3) Bandai 1/1000 "Space Battleship Yamato."
Neil 'mechmonkey':
Neil brought his new Samurai Monkey 1/72 "Destroid Defender" and Alliance 1/72 "Thunderbolt" (from "Babylon 5").  The "Defender" is a sweet kit.  The "Thunderbolt" is not: poor fit, lots of filling and sanding and the cockpit is, in his words, " a joke".
1) Samurai Monkey 1/72 "Destroid Defender".
2) Alliance's Babylon 5 Thunderbolt.
John 'Onezero':
John brought a Games Workshop "Basilisk" self-propelled artillery piece and a Dragon "JSU-152" in 1/35 scale.  Both are being heavily weathered - the "Basilisk" will be wearing a very faded winter whitewash scheme.
He had his own female SG-x team member, she needs something for that hand that's already positioned reaching up to her shoulder, a radio mic maybe?
1) 1/35 JSU-152 armor model
2) 28mm Imperial Guard Basilsik Warhammer40k armor model.
3) 1/8 Scale Female Marine.
Larry 'sci-fi58' and wife Cynthia:
Larry is still working on his 1/35 "Shadowcat" mech.  He reports his lighted cockpit is nearly complete, just needing some soldering.  He's been working on the machine's foot pads.  Larry also brought a 1/32 Hasegawa "Thunderbolt" he wants to do in a bare metal scheme and a 1/32 "Corsair" by 21st Century Toys, which is notable for its low price and superb pilot figure.
1) 1/35 scale Paper 2 Styrene scratchbuilt Mech (Bushwacker).
2) 1/32 Hasegawa "Thunderbolt".
3) 1/32 "Corsair" by 21st Century Toys.
Ed 'Tayed-Gachi':
Fresh from his honeymoon, Ed brought several models.  A reissued "Blue Thunder" helicopter is his next project.  The ICM "Type 23 U-boat" is his current one.  It has just 12 pieces, and they all fit well.  Ed is adding a wood-pattern planking to it.  He also brought a small T-Rex skeleton he got from a movie/DVD promotion from "Night at the Museum" - a neat little miniature.
1) "Blue Thunder" helicopter.
1) ICM "Type 23" U-boat.
3) T-Rex skeleton that came with the movie/DVD "Night at the Museum"
Bob 'bobber':
Bob brought his happy self.
Mark Runyon:
Mark brought a Mars camouflaged pickup and a heavily modified Lamborghini racer --- modified with folding wings, AT-AT parts, F-104 scoops, nacelles and parts from a 1/48 helicopter rotor.
1) Mars camouflaged pickup
2) Lamborghini racer converted to jet plane car
