Elections Recap from the Secretary:
Here's a quick note from Terry, our newly deposed President-for-Life, regarding the meeting/Christmas party this past weekend.  For those who could not be there, it was time for the biannual changing of the guard so we elected new officers.  Larry (the Elder) Strickland was voted in unanimously as our next Dear Leader; Terry Miesle is now Vice President/ Cruise Director, Joe (Sparky) Suttie is Treasurer/Chancellor of Embezzlement, and I (John Lester) could not give away the secretary/Chapter Contact job.
Jon (Vir) Kunatz retained his post as Cabin Boy and Provider of Ambiance.
President Larry Strickland
Vice President Terry Miesle
Secretary John Lester
Treasurer Joe Suttie
Ambiance John Kunatz
2007 Club Dues:
Sparky has calculated dues for next year at $20/person.  This will enable us to continue meeting at the Hoffman Estates Community Center, which was agreed upon at the last three meetings as the most conveniently located, spacious and reasonably priced venue available.  If you didn't see Joe at the party about your share, please contact him at or before the next meeting.
IPMS news:
We have a new Region 5 honcho, Mike George. Also, the new IPMS Journal is out and continues the fine tradition started this year of timely, useful and attractively presented material.  There's plenty of good stuff in it, including an article on detailing a Monogram Starfury by Dave Lentell (IPMS/Quad Cities (IIRC) and frequent visitor to NIMO, who goes by "rtbs" on the Starship Modeler forums).
Recipe Exchange:
For those interested, Terry and Bernie will (eventually) jot down their recipes for the apple cake (Ter) and meatballs (Bernie) that everyone liked so much.
And many thanks to Larry the Elder and Bernie for spearheading the party!
And now, at long last, that word from Terry:
This month I join my fellow Deposed Dictators for Life, John McDannell and Art Krull.  I leave you in the strong yet surprisingly gentle hands of your new Dear Leader, Larry Strickland.
This marks the end of our eighth year as a club.  We've changed venues several times in these 8 years, and kept a very strong group of core members while slowly attracting more.  We've expanded our mailing list to include a good number of our friends as Auxiliary Techmages.  We've completed a massive group project - the Jeffries Station.  We've continued to do well at contests, and have become more active cross-pollinating with the other local model clubs.  Larry's term ends on our tenth anniversary, I'm sure we'll find something to do!
We have a small but very strong and talented club.  I see big plans for the future, and plenty of fun while we're getting there.
I will serve this next term as your Cruise Director.  We plan to bring demonstrations from other model clubs, and I will attend meetings at those clubs occasionally to become more familiar with those members.  I already have a couple ideas, and have received more ideas from some of you as well.  If you have an idea for a demo you can show the group or something you'd like to see, please let me know.  I think if we shoot for four demos a year (half our meetings) this is reasonable.
Terry
