12-7-06 Email from Sparky to Tony: "Larry couldn't get the sketches to forward to me. Larry was also concerned with reproducing the outside area, but I don't think there's much to reproduce. He's going off the group project fiasco from 2001, http://www.starshipmodeler.com/events/wfest2k1.htm http://www.starshipmodeler.com/events/wfest2k1/dio_group_1.JPG http://www.starshipmodeler.com/events/wfest2k1/dio_group_right.JPG He said when they got all the greenery stuff from the railroad supply area they thought it would be straight forward addition to the base, but thats not how it worked out. Think Utah desert or Mars desert, with repair base for nuclear powered mechs. It wouldn't be out of the question to believe that there wouldn't be any vegetation. Also If we do snow theme like the original mech project was then we'd just have snow every where, the probe bot's snow covered base looked good, so we already have an expert ;) The point is that the large mechs won't make it into the display if we don't have an outdoor area (not to mention the finished hover tanks). Larry had been thinking a free standing hanger bay in the beginning anyways. I know there's a time crunch but it seems like it would be worth it to have the whole mountain face and an outdoor guard setup, if we're going with a big display and all. There's also the fact the Larry wants the setup to be divisible so he can take his peace home. This will make a solid mountain side pretty difficult on the whole. The only way I can think to make it easily removable would be to make the mech bays set into individual stump style plateau mountains seen in Airwolf's valley of the gods, http://www.americansouthwest.net/utah/mexican_hat/vog2_l.html " |
