Tony: "We cut foam based on Neils structure and to our collective mutual horror discovered all sorts of proportional problems which would entail making our bases the size of a football field....well almost. All sorts of ideas were bandied about while cutting the foam and Larry came up with a quick sketch of a shape for the foam sides which caught my eye and I drew over it. I liked the direction Neil was headed with the angles of the concrete bunker but the foam shapes we were cutting to fit the base was getting too tall and disproportionate. Neil says he can get it to work and took several pieces of the cut foam with him to work on. When Joe and Neil left I started fiddling around with another idea and we quickly cut up some cardboard and slapped the whole thing together with tape. It's VERY rough and needs serious tweaking but I kind of like it. It gives us a smaller footprint while keeping an overhead crane above the mech." |
