Techmage November Lunch Meeting

Before we get to Ter's report, my apologies - I meant to get this out as soon as he sent it but then.... something heavy fell on me.  Yeah, that's it.  I was superglued to the floor for two whole weeks and coundn't get to the eMail.  Yeah, that's the ticket.

The club is re-chartered with IPMS for 2006, so that's done.  I got a purty little sticker and everything from the big IPMS in the sky.  Just in case folks were wondering.

A note on our next meeting:
December is our traditional holiday pot luck.  As in the past, we'll be at Art Krull's house on Saturday, December 10, from 5:30-7:30pm.  We're also collecting for Toys for Tots again - so if you can, please bring something (value $10 or less), unwrapped, that we can donate.  Please also let Art know what you're bringing as far as food or beverage - you can see what's "on the table" already by visiting the Starship Modeler Forums here: for Art's addess you can eMail him

Now, on to Ter's BoH after-action:

Hi, everyone.
The final contest of 2005 is done, and as usual it was one of the best regional shows around.  Big Vendor tables loaded with bargains and hard-to-find products, lots of great exhibits and people from all over the region make this a very good show.  There were nearly 300 entries this year, and I don't know whether it's up or down from previous years, but it seemed like a good turnout.

Let's see if I can remember everyone who showed up....
Ken, Brian, Kevin, James, Joe, Both Neils, Bob, both Larrys, Chad, both Johns, Art, and Larry J. introduced his fiancee.
I met Kevin Powers, with whom I'd traded emails about the 1/72 Viper kit.  Hopefully we can recruit a Techmage.

Let me recount our club's awards as best I can remember.
Neil Prentice took home a couple of silvers for his tanks, and maybe a bronze too. He had a Japanese armored car and Italian Ariete MBT.  He took a bronze for a Panzer crewman figure.

George Takacs was awarded a silver for his Starship Troopers bug, a bronze for another figure I can't remember, and a bronze for the Akula-class sub.

Brian Beargie won a silver for his SDF-1 and a bronze or another silver, too.

Ed Taylor received a gold for the droid fighters and silver for the TIE/Droid conversion.
He also won a gold and best sci-fi subject for the droid fighters at the Will Cook show.

I won 4 bronzes for aircraft, a bronze for a figure and a gold for my newest incarnation of Spongiform - which took the Best Figure special award, as well.

If I forgot anyone please let me know!
