Techmage's @ Buth-O'hare:

Keeping with tradition, the Techmage November meeting was held at the Butch O’Hare model contest.  Our largest regional contest seemed the natural venue for a reprise showing of our Jeffries Station.  Several of us spent some time refurbishing the station, and Joe spent quite a bit of time rebuilding the electronics.  He even fixed the beacon lighting that fried at Wonderfest.  I think the crowd enjoyed looking the station over, certainly it was unlike anything previously displayed at the show.

Upcoming events:
The December Tehcmage Pot Luck meeting is scheduled to take place at Larry S' details to follow
Note at this time we have now moved it to Onezero's place, same place as the last August club picnic/Lesterfest (5:00-7:30 pm) Please email Onzero for location information

Techmages Activities:
 Mini group project
The resurrection of the 1:32nd scale mech project has begun with a mech bay in a mountain side or on a flat desert scape.  The original idea of snow/early spring (so we don't have to worry about greenery) is still a good idea.  See Tony's probe bot on a snow base, elegant and simple.  I also suggested a Roswell style mountain side also think Airwolf's valley of the God's hiding place.  We will be casting sheeting for use in the inner bays, so we have a good start on the bay and then you can add things for your bay's particular mech.  Neil's hover tanks are in scale and were/are meant to apart of this project so a tank on guard or being restocked is fine too.  Simple lighting for the bays is slated, i.e. overhead lights, spots lights and an 'arc welding/cutting' circuit.

 Demos
No demos planned at this time

Butch-O'hare show report:
John Vojtec displayed his Best-in-Show B2 Spirit bomber from the Nationals.  I hope you got the chance to examine this masterwork in detail.

The Techmages acquitted themselves well again at the show, most of us who entered did take awards.  The awards for bronze and silver were not identified, so while I know I received a few awards I don’t exactly know which entries were recognized.  Hopefully next year the announcers will identify the subjects, or some identifying marker be added to the entry form.

As always, the vendors section was well-stocked with business and personal vendors.  Enough bargains for everyone, I think.  I found a lot of things I didn’t know existed, and while I didn’t have money for much I did take some business cards so I know where to find those items.

[Techmage] Business:
Next month is the Traditional Techmage Tannenbaum Tear.  Bernadette Strickland has graciously allowed us to hold our party at their house this year.  We will provide details and directions in another message.  At the moment, we’re deciding whether to cater the party instead of our typical potluck arrangement.  On the Starship Modeler forum, in the Club pages, we have a poll.  If you haven’t voted yet, please make your opinion known.

Also at the December meeting we will hold elections.  All positions are open, of course, though John Lester will likely remain your Minister of Propoganda by popular demand.  My second term as your Dear Leader will end, and I would like to pass that mantle to another.  Think about standing for office.

We also will continue to hold meetings in our current location, the Hoffman Estates Community Center for the time being.  There will be 8 meeting dates there again next year, as August, November and December are held at other venues.  We will need to establish dues rates based on that number of meetings and projected attendees.

Also, if you have a suggestion for another meeting venue, we are always willing to evaluate an alternative.

Show and Tell:
Contest pictures can be seen on our pages and www.modelingmadness.com
